Edwards' Club 1830 will have a grand reopening at the Stripes Lounge in the Oasis Community Center here April 18, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., with a 1980s-themed party.

Team Edwards' Club 1830 is equivalent to the Army's Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers, otherwise known as BOSS -- a morale, welfare and recreation program for single Soldiers.

"The reason why we are having a grand reopening is because we want to show Team Edwards that there is something here for our single Airmen," said Steve Huebner, Oasis Community Center programmer and coordinator of the party. "Through this event, we can show our single Airmen the Club 1830 activities that we will be holding in the future."

Though Club 1830 is intended for single Airmen, all active-duty servicemembers, both enlisted and officers, are invited to attend the party, said Airman 1st Class Nancy Rouse, 95th Force Support Squadron officer promotion clerk and Airman's Council president.

"We are hoping that people will come to this event," Airman Rouse said. "We are going to use this event as a pinpoint to advertise more events that Club 1830 will be hosting."

During the party, Airmen can expect a relaxed atmosphere, a disc jockey to play music, a full open bar with a bartender, finger food and special drinks, Airman Rouse said. They can also participate in the best dressed competition.

"We will have some good music," Mr. Huebner said. "It will be a good environment. Hopefully, everything goes well so we'll have more events like this."

Club 1830 is part of the base's effort to provide entertainment for Edwards' single Airmen, Mr. Huebner said. For many single Airmen, this is their first time away from home.

"The biggest goal of Club 1830 is to take single Airmen and give them something to do," he said. "We need to keep them occupied, keep them happy and give them some fun."

Some of the programs Club 1830 offers include out-of-town trips, games and tournaments, Mr. Huebner said. The club also offers the Stripes Lounge for Airmen to hang out and relax.

"Airmen should never be bored and always have to something to do," Mr. Huebner said. "I really want Club 1830 to thrive."
