CCAF recognizes 96 airmen with degrees Published April 21, 2008 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Ninety-six Edwards Airmen were honored for receiving their educational degrees during the Community College of the Air Force commencement ceremony at Club Muroc here April 16. Eighty-nine Airmen received their CCAF degrees, five received their bachelors in arts and two received their masters' degrees. The CCAF is one of several federally chartered degree-granting institutions; however, it is the only two-year institution exclusively serving enlisted personnel. The college awards the associate in applied science degree after a student successfully completes a degree program designed for an Air Force specialty. The Community College of the Air Force is accredited through Air University by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate degrees. The Air Force Association also presented the Pitsenbarger Award to Master Sgt. Michael Bella, Staff Sgt. Luis Magana and Staff Sgt. James Shepherd for outstanding academic achievement.
