The Antelope Valley East Kern Water Agency will perform a 24-hour shutdown to the water line that serves Edwards, California City, North Edwards and Boron beginning Aug 2 at 6 a.m. This is part of AVEK's emergency maintenance.

During this time, ground water wells will be the only source of water. In order to minimize the impact and ensure we have water for an emergency situation, the 95th Civil Engineer and Transportation Directorate is asking for the base population's help to conserve water in a 24-hour period by implementing the following actions:
  • All Edwards residents who have individual control over their lawn sprinkler systems are being asked to turn them off.
  • The base car wash will be closed starting the night of Aug. 1 through the afternoon of Aug. 3. Do not wash cars at home.
  • Ground maintenance will turn off all common area irrigation systems throughout the installation.
  • Civil Engineer will top off all water storage tanks the night of Aug. 1.
  • The golf course will continue to irrigate using reclaimed water from the waste water treatment plant.
  • Civil Engineer water plant operators will be on duty to closely monitor all water wells.
