10 Airmen receive Article 15s Published Aug. 4, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Melanie Rowell Air Force Flight Test Center Staff Judge Advocate EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Ten Edwards Airmen received Article 15s of the Uniform Code of Military Justice during the second quarter. Article 15 is a tool used by commanders to impose nonjudicial punishment, which provides them with an essential and prompt means of maintaining good order and discipline. It also promotes positive behavior changes in servicemembers without the stigma of a court-martial conviction. The following are the Article 15s for the second quarter: An airman first class willfully abandoned her duties in violation of Article 92. The commander imposed the following punishment -- reduction to airman, 10 days extra duty and a reprimand. A staff sergeant misused his government travel card on two separate occasions in violation of Article 92. The commander imposed the following punishment -- suspended reduction to senior airman, forfeiture of $500 pay per month for two months, with forfeitures in excess of $250 pay per month for two months suspended, 15 days extra duty and a reprimand. A technical sergeant willfully abandoned his duties in violation of Article 92 and lied about this dereliction when questioned by a supervisor in violation of Article 107. The commander imposed the following punishment -- suspended reduction to staff sergeant. A senior airman damaged a wall-mounted government television in violation of Article 108, and lied to the first sergeant when questioned about the whereabouts of a fellow Airman. The commander imposed the following punishment -- reduction to airman first class, forfeiture of $200 pay and a reprimand. A senior airman was incapacitated for the performance of his duties because of drunkenness in violation of Article 134. The commander imposed the following punishment -- reduction to airman with reduction below airman first class suspended, forfeiture of $969 pay with forfeitures in excess of $484.50 suspended, 15 days restriction to base and a reprimand. A senior airman damaged a door in his base housing, physically assaulted his spouse, lied about his wife's location and broke a no contact order in violation of Articles 92, 107, 108 and 128. The commander imposed the following punishment -- reduction to airman first class, forfeiture of $200 pay per month for two months, with forfeitures of $200 pay for one month suspended and a reprimand. An airman first class wrongfully used marijuana in violation of Article 112a. The commander imposed the following punishment -- reduction to airman basic, forfeiture of $150, 30 days extra duty and 30 days restriction to base. A major misused his government travel card, failed to pay a just debt and solicited a loan from a government contractor in violation of Article 92 and Article 134. The commander imposed the following punishment -- forfeiture of $500 pay per month for two months, with forfeiture in excess of $250 pay per month for two months suspended and a reprimand. A staff sergeant committed adultery, physically assaulted and indecently exposed himself to a child in violation of Articles 128 and 134. The commander imposed the following punishment -- reduction to senior airman suspended, 15 days extra duty and a reprimand. A senior airman failed to pay his government travel card in violation of Article 134. The commander imposed the following punishment -- reduction to airman first class, 45 days extra duty and a reprimand.
