The Drug Demand Reduction hosted this year's National Red Ribbon Week, an anti-drug awareness campaign.

Organizations that participated in the Red Ribbon Week include the 95th Air Base Wing, 95th Medical Group, Base Exchange, Desert High School and Branch Elementary School.

This coalition came together to help promote awareness of drug abuse and the continued war on drugs with a number of activates.

Red Ribbon Week kicked off with 30 people participating in a fun-run. Drug Demand Reduction and the 95th Medical Operations Squadron also initiated a prescription drug abuse awareness campaign by handing out warning cards to patients being prescribed a potentially misused or abused prescription medication.

More than 200 students from Desert High School and Branch Elementary School participated on a poster-making contest promoting the Red Ribbon 2008 anti-drug message "Ask Me, See Me, Be, Be a Hero, Be Drug Free." First place winners were presented with gift certificates provided by the Edwards Exchange.

Additionally, the Desert High School kicked off a positive social behavior campaign in cooperation with the Mental Health Flight.
