95th MDG sweeps Medical Service Awards Published Dec. 9, 2008 By Senior Airman Julius Delos Reyes 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 95th Medical Group swept the Air Force Materiel Command Medical Service Awards by receiving 16 awards recently. Twelve individuals and four teams earned awards as well as the 95th MDG winning the Best Clinic of the Year award. "These awards show the breadth of quality in the 95th Medical Group," said Col. Janet Taylor, 95th MDG commander. "However, it is more than the number of awards, but the type of awards. The 95th MDG won many major AFMC competitive categories recognizing outstanding care and service to our community. Our medics represent a living example of the 95th MDG's vision of developing our medics as leaders while partnering with our patients to promote lifelong health." The following are the Edwards winners of the AFMC medical awards: -- Best Clinic of the Year: 95th Medical Group -- Medium Dental Clinic of the Year: 95th Medical Operations Squadron -- Team Aerospace of the Year: 95th Aerospace Medicine Squadron -- Health Promotion Program of the Year (Small Base): 95th Aerospace Medicine Squadron -- Field Grade Nurse of the Year: Maj. Kevin Poitinger -- Outstanding Social Worker of the Year: Maj. Nadine Griffin -- Dental Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Robert Workman -- Outstanding Civilian Medical Logistician of the Year: Linda Phillip Bell -- Medical Readiness Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Staff Sgt. David DiBello -- U.S. Air Force Fred Coleman Award: Capt. Sabrina Rodriguez -- Human Performance Training Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Amber Honeycutt -- Human Performance Training Officer of the Year: Capt. Jeffrey Scott -- Olson-Wegner Outstanding Aerospace Medicine Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. Jerome Martin -- Outstanding Base Environmental Engineer of the Year: Staff Sgt. Amanda Lublin -- Outstanding Company Grade Base Environmental Engineer of the Year: Capt. Andrew Wagner -- Outstanding Industrial Hygienist or Environmental Engineer: Maj. Waikwong Kan Colonel Taylor said one of the reasons why Edwards' medics won these awards is due to ownership. "We have dedicated and professional staff -- military, civilian, contractors and volunteers -- who take personal ownership of their accomplishments, strive for excellence and are not satisfied with status quo, but live my motto of being 'Simply the Best,'" she said. "Supervisors and leaders also took the time to recognize the great effort our Desert Medics perform day in and day out." These awards recognize the diligence, teamwork and triumphs of the 95th MDG, Colonel Taylor said. This group of professionals is the "best" in the Air Force. "They are the finest I have had the privilege to lead," the colonel said. "They deserve and earned every award. I'm humbled and honored to be their commander. We are part of 95th Air Base that work every day to improve the care we provide to our community, pursue excellence and support each other.
