Acacia Hills, Tamarisk Plains to experience power outage Published Jan. 12, 2009 By James Judkins 95th Civil Engineering and Transportation Directorate EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Acacia Hills and Tamarisk Plains community here will experience power outage to replace old transformers, high-voltage switches and cable Jan. 21 and 27 and Feb. 3. To minimize the impact and shorten the outages, everything that can safely be accomplished with the power turned on will be done. Additionally, work will be accomplished in three phases so that each house has only one outage. Each outage will start after kids are at school and last up to eight hours. The Jan 21 outage affects 1214 through 1306 North Palmetto Dr. The second outage affects 1102 through 1206 North Palmetto Dr. and 1163 through 1249 Catalpa Circle. The third outage on Feb 3 affects all of Tamarisk Plains. Since the work is being done during daylight, it is not anticipated that temperatures inside the houses will drop too much. However, just to be safe, everyone is encouraged to "pre-heat" their homes ahead of time. Outages will be postponed in the event of inclement weather such as unusually low daytime temperatures or severe weather. For more information, call 277-3791.
