AFAF reaches recalculated goal, strives for total contact Published April 1, 2009 By Airman 1st Class William O'Brien 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- In the fourth week of the Air Force Assistance Fund's campaign, Team Edwards reached its financial goal of $36,267. However, four percent of the base's Airmen have not been contacted, and representatives plan to work to reach out to the remaining Airmen. Due to a miscalculation in the total number of Airmen currently stationed at Edwards, the original goal was incorrect. The AFAF representatives identified and corrected the error. "We exceeded the contribution goal in week 4 after confirming with Air Force Personnel Center that all of our Airmen were in fact miscalculated in the original contribution goal total," said Myogene Park, 95th Contracting Squadron contract specialist. "Using the strength by grade report provided by the 95th Force Support Squadron, and recalculating the base contribution goal to $36,267. When we did that, we realized our goal had alrady been exceed by eight percent." Due to the campaign's success, Edwards has garnered praise from Air Force organizations. "Edwards has been recognized as being on the AFPC 'honor roll' for our efforts." said Lieutenant Park. For the remainder of the campaign, AFAF representatives will try to maintain manning at the Base Exchange for Airmen who would like to make a donation prior to April 3. "We plan to have representatives at the BX from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. everyday this week, but cannot guarantee that we'll have a representative available there the entire time," said Lieutenant Park. Despite reaching their financial goal, AFAF representatives will continue to accept financial contributions and strive for their contact goal until the campaign is completed. "The unit project officers are doing the best they can to reach everyone, and I am confident that we will have 100 percent active-duty contact made by April 3," said Lieutenant Park.
