As part of the Airman's Council's mission to help its constituents, the organization is starting "Operation Support Our Defenders" May 2.

"Operation Support Our Defenders" aims to aid 95th Security Forces Squadron personnel on weekends by providing them with refreshments.

"Since most facilities on base are not in conjunction with the hours of security forces, the Airman's Council has decided to take charge and lend a helping hand to our fellow Airmen," said Airman 1st Class Mela'nie Rowell, Air Force Flight Test Center Staff Judge Advocate paralegal and Airman's Council events coordinator.

As part of this effort, Airman's Council will be providing security forces with water, juice, chips and snacks to form into small meals for them over the weekend, said Senior Airman Shakira Jones, 95th Aerospace Medicine Squadron public health technician and Airman's Council vice president.

"The Airman's Council decided to do this to build rapport and strengthen the relationship amongst all Airmen," Airman Jones said. "We came up with this idea through the council's meetings about the facility hours not fitting the schedules of shift workers."

For this endeavor, the Airman's Council is looking for approximately 15 volunteers.

"It is important for Airmen to volunteer for this event, not only to be an active member within the community, but to support our fellow wingmen as well," Airman Jones said. "We need to support our fellow Airmen to ensure everyone knows they have a wingman and that we are all here for one another."

The deadline to volunteer is April 26, those interested can e-mail the Airman's Council at edwards.airmans.council@edwards.af.mil.
