RoseAnne Dundon Air Force Flight Test Center Staff Judge Advocate EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Nine Edwards Airman received Articles 15 during the first quarter. Nonjudicial punishment provides commanders with an essential means of maintaining order and discipline and also promotes positive behavior changes in service members without the stigma of a court-martial conviction. Suspension is the postponement of the application of all or part of the punishment for a specific probationary period, until a specified date. It will be automatically remitted at the end of that period if the member does not violate the condition of suspension. Suspension is often warranted for a first offense or where persuasive extenuating or mitigating circumstances exist. The following are the Articles 15 for the first quarter: A technical sergeant assaulted three individuals in violation of Article 128. The commander imposed the following punishment -- reduction to staff sergeant and a reprimand. A technical sergeant failed to obey a lawful order by wrongfully operating a government vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in violation of Article 92. The Sergeant destroyed the vehicle, driving off the road and causing more than $500 in damages in violation of Article 108. The commander imposed the following punishment -- suspended reduction to staff sergeant and suspended forfeiture of $1,361 pay per month for two months. A senior airman wrongfully distributed Vicodin to another active-duty member in violation of Article 112a. The commander imposed the following punishment -- suspended reduction to Airman first class and 14 days extra duty. A senior airman misused a government travel card in violation of Article 92. The commander imposed the following punishment -- suspended reduction to airman first class and 30 days extra duty. A senior airman wrongfully used Vicodin in violation of Article 112a. The commander imposed the following punishment -- reduction to airman first class, suspended forfeitures of $876 pay per month for two months, 30 days restriction to base and a reprimand. An airman first class was caught sleeping while posted as a sentinel in violation of Article 113. The commander imposed the following punishment -- suspended reduction to airman, 14 days extra duty and a reprimand. An airman first class unlawfully entered another military member's quarters in violation of Article 134. The airman also lied about the circumstances of the unlawful entry when questioned by investigators in violation of Article 107. The commander imposed the following punishment -- suspended reduction to airman, 14 days extra duty and a reprimand. An airman first class was cuaght drinking underage in violation of Article 92. The airman was also driving under the influence of alcohol in violation of Article 111 and damaged government property in violation of Article 108. The commander imposed the following punishment -- reduction to airman basic with reduction below airman suspended and a reprimand. An airman first class wrongfully distributed Vicodin in violation of Article 112a. The commander imposed the following punishment -- suspended reduction to airman and 18 days extra duty.
