95th Security Forces Squadron batted the 412th Operations Squadron to the operating table, starting the game with eight hits before their first out.

The well poised runner-up for last season's crown was able to score more runs and get more hits in the first inning than the 412th OSS could muster the entire game.

"Our sticks were on fire tonight," said Thomas Dina, 95th SFS coach." "We had an effective off season and a lot of practice. Our team brings a lot of skills to the table and we were able to put it all together out here tonight and win the game."

The 412th OSS started the first inning in similar fashion, but following a double that brought in two runs, three consecutive outs ended what looked like a promising beginning.

"Our team has great talent," said Brett Corriveau, 412th OSS coach. "We haven't been able to get in enough practice and we have a lot of new players this year so it's a matter of getting comfortable with each other."

Up 14-2, the 95th SFS wasn't able to duplicate the first inning success, getting four hits but had one base-runner thrown out at second and another thrown out in a 6-4-3 double play to close the top of the inning.

Able to prevent the 412th OSS from making a comeback, the 95th SFS quickly brought the inning to a close, allowing only one hit.

The 95th SFS continued their onslaught in the third inning, scoring six runs including a grand slam, putting the game out of the reach of their opponents.

Having only two more innings to bring the game within 15 before the 'mercy rule' would come into effect, the 412th OSS came alive, scoring four runs and doubling their hit total for the game in the process.

Up big, with their chance to put the game away early, the 95th SFS took advantage, scoring two runs and leaving it to their fielding to close out the game.

Knowing what was at stake, the 95th SFS took the field poised to end the game. Putting together a 1-2-3 inning, 95th SFS closed the game.

"We don't take any team lightly," said the 95th SFS coach "We practice hard for every game and we go out and play our best."
