H1N1 case confirmed at Edwards AFB Published July 8, 2009 By Public Affairs 95th Air Base Wing EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Officials from the 95th Medical Group confirmed one case of 2009 H1N1 influenza virus in the Edwards Air Force Base community July 2. The patient did not require hospitalization and is free of symptoms. "The single case is not expected to have an impact on operations at Edwards," said Capt. Mark Olson, 95th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, Public Health Flight commander. "While Antelope Valley has had several cases of H1N1 flu, the impact on medical resources and the community has been minimal. With this in mind, Public Health is urging the Edwards AFB population to remain vigilant about good respiratory hygiene and hand washing." The ways to best protect family members and oneself is to follow the three "C's" of disease prevention: · Cover your cough · Clean your hands · Confine sick people at home People who are experiencing a cough, sore throat and temperature above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, may contact their primary care manager or, after duty hours, call the nurse triage line at 866-535-4137. For any other questions about influenza, please call Public Health at 661-277-2244.
