Commanders bring order with NJP

Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice is a tool used by commanders to impose Nonjudicial Punishment. NJP provides commanders with an essential and prompt means of maintaining good order and discipline and also promoting positive behavior changes in servicemembers without the stigma of court-martial convictions. The following Articles 15 were given here during the second quarter of 2009.
 
A senior master sergeant violated an Air Force Instruction by viewing sexually explicit material on a government computer in violation of Article 92, failure to obey a general regulation. The member also used inappropriate language toward a coworker in violation of Article 92, dereliction of duty. The commander imposed the following punishment: forfeiture of $2000.00 pay per month for two months with one month suspended and a reprimand.

A staff sergeant failed to obey a no-contact order in violation of Article 92, failure to obey a lawful order. The commander imposed the following punishment: suspended reduction to senior airman and forfeiture of $200.00 pay per month for two months. The suspended reduction was later vacated when the staff sergeant made a false official statement to his commander in violation of Article 107.

A staff sergeant made a false official statement in violation of Article 107, false official statement. The commander imposed the following punishment: suspended reduction to senior airman, 15 days extra duty, forfeiture of $200.00 pay per month for two months, and a reprimand.

A staff sergeant threatened someone with a weapon while intoxicated in violation of Article 134, drunk and disorderly conduct. The commander imposed the following punishment: conditional suspended reduction to senior airman, forfeiture of $500.00 pay per month for two months, with $400.00 pay for 2 months suspended, 30 days extra duty, and a reprimand.

A staff sergeant drove recklessly in the parking lot of Arnold Park while under the influence of alcohol in violation of Article 111, drunken operation of a vehicle. The commander imposed the following punishment: reduction to senior airman and a reprimand.

Two senior airmen smoked marijuana at a party in violation of Article 112a, wrongful use of controlled substance. The commander imposed the following punishment on both members: reduction to airman, with the reduction below airman first class suspended, 20 days extra duty, and a reprimand.

An airman first class provided alcohol to a person under the age of 21 in violation of Article 92, dereliction of duty. The commander imposed the following punishment: reduction to airman and 45 days extra duty.

Two airmen first class were sleeping on post in violation of Article 113, misbehavior of sentinel. The commander imposed the following punishment on both members: reduction to airman and a reprimand. One of the members also received 10 days extra duty.

An airman under the age of 21 was drinking alcohol in the dorms and being loud and disruptive in violation of Article 134, drunk and disorderly conduct. The commander imposed the following punishment: suspended reduction to airman basic and 45 days extra duty.
