Team Edwards to implement new Air Force custodial standards Published Sept. 22, 2009 95th Civil Engineer and Transportation Directorite EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 95th Air Base Wing Civil Engineer and Transportation Directorate along with facility managers across the installation have been working over the past several months preparing to implement the Air Force's new custodial standards Oct. 1. The new standards drive consistency across the Air Force and to achieve cost savings. Once effective, centralized trash collection will be implemented at Edwards Air Force Base for facilities on the Base Custodial Service contract. Under the new standards, employees will be responsible for disposal of their personal desk-side trash into the centralized collection containers, or dumpsters located outside their building and replacing their personal trash can liners. Facility or building managers can direct personnel to the collection areas and provide information on replacement liners. Employees should recycle first and then dispose of trash. Effective recycling will keep the amount of trash deposited into the centralized containers to a minimum. Guidelines for Centralized trash collection can be found at https://ckm.edwards.af.mil/Livelink/llisapi.dll?func=ll&objid=704592891&obja While delivery of the centralized trash containers began Sept. 21, they should not be used until Oct. 1. The contractor will continue to empty desk-side trash through the end of September. The new level-two basic service applies to nearly all of the base facilities, with the exception of prestige and special requirements facilities. The basic service will consist of 1 time per week floor sweeping, mopping, carpet vacuuming, walk-off mat cleaning, centralized trash collection and removal, and one monthly floor buffing. Periodic floor maintenance will include 1 time per year carpet shampooing and floor stripping/waxing. Restroom cleaning will be performed on a two week alternating schedule of Monday,Wednesday and Friday on week one and Tuesday and Thursday on week two. In the event someone has a concern regarding contract performance, they can speak to their their facility manager. Facility manager's, in-turn should forward concerns they are unable to address to 95th Air Base Wing Centralized Performance Management Flight at, 277-1258 for evaluation.
