Team Edwards 2010 Air Force Assistance Fund committee held a bowling tournament at the High Desert Lanes March 26.

Roughly 90 Airmen from across the base attended the event.

"This event was well attended by all units across the base," said Master Sgt. Tonya Freeman, Edwards AFAF campaign key worker. "I would especially like to thank the 95th Security Forces Squadron who had their entire Echo Flight participate, 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office and the 95th Communications Group for their turnout as well as everyone else who took part in the tournament."

The goal of the campaign is to make all base personnel aware of the campaign and to achieve 50 percent participation with Edwards ultimate financial goal being $50,575 this year.

"We're almost there," said Capt. James Athnos, Edwards 2010 AFAF Project Officer. "Currently, we have raised $41,683.00, which is only 18 percent off our overall goal. If you can spare a $5 coffee per pay period ($10 a month) that's a $60 donation for the entire year! If everyone did that we would be well above our goal!"

Captain Athnos said by participating in this campaign this year, he has realized how much of an impact the AFAF can have on Airmen's lives.

"I've spoken to several Airmen, noncommissioned officers and officer's who have benefitted from the AFAF," Capt. Athnos said. "For example, a senior noncommissioned officer shared a story with me about how the AFAS purchased medical equipment for her son when he was younger. She went on to say that without that equipment her son may not be here right now. It meant a lot to me to hear how what I'm doing will affect the lives of those in the Air Force."
