Burger King to get internal overhaul, fresh look Published June 29, 2010 By Stephen K. Robinson 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Beginning July 12, Burger King here will undergo a full internal overhaul with associated construction to help better serve its customers and provide a more pleasant dining area. "The remodeling will be accomplished in two phases," said Mr. Russ Hinrichs, Edwards' Army Air Force Exchange Service general manager. "The first phase is scheduled to last for 45 days during which time the dining room area will be closed. The dining area is scheduled to be completed Aug. 25." Burger King has served Edwards employees and visitors since 1987, and the dining area only was remodeled last in 2005. "Phase Two is scheduled to start on Aug. 26 and will also take about 45 days," Mr. Hinrichs said. "During this time the entire building, kitchen and dining room, will be closed to customers for renovation. This phase is scheduled for completion Oct. 9." This three-month makeover will not only include an upgraded dining area, it will include installation of more efficient kitchen equipment to help increase the speed of service and permit Burger King employees to better assist patrons. "As our Burger King is an AAFES operation, it is the intent to increase the patronage through faster customer service which will in turn hopefully lead to more Morale, Welfare and Recreation dividends," Mr. Hinrichs said. The employees will go through a two-week training that will be dedicated to helping them learn to use the new equipment. "The building is scheduled to reopen for service Oct. 24," Mr. Hinrichs said.
