Robinson 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 95th Air Base Wing has scheduled its change of command ceremony for 9:05 a.m. at Building 3000, July 9. Col. Gregory E. Schwab will assume command of the 95th Air Base Wing from Col. Jerry L. Gandy. Colonel Schwab comes to Edwards from Air Force Headquarters, Washington, D.C., where he served as Deputy Director of Cyber Operations, Directorate of Operations, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements. He was responsible to the director for establishing and advocating policy, guidance and resources for cyber and information operations, to include network warfare and influence operations, and overseeing the creation and development of the Air Force Cyber Career Force. Colonel Schwab was commissioned in 1986 as a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Portland where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Management. He also earned advanced degrees from Central Michigan University, Air University and the National Defense University. He has served in various capacities at the squadron, group, wing, major command, Air Staff and Office of the Secretary of Defense level of the Department of Defense. He is a master navigator with more than 2,600 hours in C-130 and C-141 aircraft. As 95th Air Base Wing commander, Colonel Schwab will be responsible for operating the base, including the infrastructure, communication systems, security, medical services, fire protection, transportation, supply, finance, contracting, legal services, personnel and manpower support, housing, education, chapel and quality-of-life programs on a 308,000-acre base in the middle of the Mojave Desert - the second largest base in the U.S. Air Force. His operations directly support the flight test and evaluation mission of the Air Force Flight Test Center. Col. Gandy will retire July 9. He will be director of the Global Innovation and Strategy Center at Offutt Air Force, Bellevue, Neb.
