Fireworks highlight Edwards' Summer Bash Independence Day celebration Published July 7, 2010 By Stephen K. Robinson 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Office EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Commemorating the 234th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Edwards held its 19th annual Summer Bash in grand style. Summer Bash 2010 kicked off July 2 at 4 p.m. on Wings and Roberts Fields and wrapped up about six hours later with a 22-minute fireworks extravaganza. Just prior to the fireworks display, Edwards' own Blue Eagles Honor Guard paraded the Colors and Ms. Juliette Tworsey led the crowd in singing the National Anthem. During Friday afternoon, Wings Field was the site of live entertainment provided by Los Angeles-based musical groups Firebug and Gooding and the locally-based La Halau O Kananinapua hula dancers. On Roberts Field, a tidal wave water slide, a giant slip 'n' slide, bouncy castles, carnival rides for all ages, a Euro bungee and dunk tank provided participants plenty of action, while food, beverage and watermelon booths provided energy sources. Summer Bash was open and free to everyone with base access. The event drew about 3,500 people during the six hours, according to Family Support Services.
