Traffic restrictions to aid West Gate construction Published July 21, 2010 By Brian Sponsler 95th Civil Engineer Squadron EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Traffic changes coming to the West Gate entry control point on Rosamond Boulevard August 1 will require semi-trailer trucks and vehicles with trailers to exit through the North or South gates. Due to construction phasing requirements, vehicles with trailers will be allowed entrance-only through the West Gate through project completion, expected in October. "This temporary restriction is necessary for the safety of the traveling public and the construction crews working in the area," said Mr. Bill Papotta, the civil engineer project manager. The new restriction will be implemented concurrently with the scheduled shift of traffic from the outbound lane of the permanent guardhouse to the inbound lanes. Construction activities will then shift to the outbound lane of the roadway. Signs will be posted directing all vehicles with trailers to use alternative gates.
