95th ABW Career Assistance Advisor position open to applicants

Master sergeants at Edwards interested in becoming the 95th Air Base Wing career assistance advisor can apply by sending a message to 95abw.ccc@edwards.af.mil by August 6.

Messages must include name, rank, Air Force Specialty Code, time on station, time in service, unit assigned/MAJCOM, commander's name and supervisor's name.

The 95th ABW career assistance advisor advises officers and Airmen about enlisted activities and programs, conducts interviews to determine factors that negatively influence career decisions and develops programs to address local concerns.

The incumbent provides information and guidance on career decisions; monitors mandatory pay and benefits briefings program to ensure eligibles are briefed at appropriate intervals and helps commanders develop career information and motivation programs.

The advisor also assists supervisors and commanders in counseling enlisted personnel on reenlistment opportunities and benefits; advises separating enlisted personnel on Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard program benefits and opportunities and monitors retention programs.

The career assistance advisor provides reports and statistics to help commanders assess retention trends and develops publicity programs. He or she plans and directs promotional projects to promote continued service; works with Air Reserve counterparts and recruiters to advertise benefits and opportunities of Reserve and Guard duty and prepares and distributes publicity to airmen contemplating a career decision. This will require writing and editing copy and simple news stories and advertisements celebrating the Air Force experience.

Special Duty Qualifications:

Knowledge is mandatory of the organization, mission, policies, personnel management with emphasis on personnel and administration, and counseling techniques.

For retention of this special duty identifier, completion of the Air Force Career Assistance Advisor course is mandatory within six months of assignment to the position. CAAs will be assigned for three years with a possibility of a one-year extension.

The following are mandatory as indicated for entry into this SDI:

1) Completed Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy by correspondence or in-residence.

2) Be in the grade of E-7.

3) Prior qualification in any AFSC at the 7- or 9-skill level.

4) Be recommended by unit commander.

5) Ability to speak distinctly.

6) Possess outstanding military bearing, dress, personal appearance, and conduct.

7) Strength Requirement : G (lift 40 lbs)

8) Physical Profile 333233

9) Minimum "General" Airman Qualifying Examination score of 47.

10) Have passing score of 75 on the fitness test and not be enrolled in any of the mandatory improvement programs.

11) Have completed a Community College of Air Force (CCAF) degree.

12) Have overall EPR rating of 5 on last three EPRs.

13) Applicant must be able to obtain 36 months of retainability.
