To honor the 90th anniversary of women winning the right to vote, Team Edwards will conduct an information fair in the Looking Glass room at the Conference Center, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fair will include several displays honoring a few of the women who significantly contributed to the Women's Rights movement.

On Aug. 26, 1971, a Joint Resolution of Congress designated Aug. 26 of each year as Women's Equality Day. This date was specifically selected to commemorate the Aug. 26, 1920, passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, giving women the right to vote. The passage of the 19th Amendment was the result of an immense and sustained civil rights movement that formally began in 1848. With the passage of the 19th Amendment and greater equality for women, the United States has become an even stronger nation by capitalizing on its diversity.

There will also be refreshments and resource information from the Equal Opportunity Office. Please drop by to honor this special event. The point of contact for this event is Mr. Darrel Burns and he can be reached at 275-9128 or Darrel.burns@edwards.af.mil.
