New Joint Strike Fighter arrives at Edwards Published Jan. 26, 2011 By 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif -- F-35 Joint Strike Fighter AF-04 banks toward base as it arrives at Edwards Jan. 22. During its time here, the flight science aircraft will perform various structure tests including high-angle-of-attack and air-start tests. The JSF is a joint, multinational acquisition program for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and eight cooperative international partners. The JSF aircraft design has three variants: conventional takeoff and landing variant for the Air Force, aircraft carrier-suitable variant for the Navy, and short takeoff and vertical landing variant for the Marine Corps, the United Kingdom, and the Air Force. This is the fourth F-35 Lightning II to arrive at Edwards since last summer.
