Life Cycle Risk Management Class Coming to Edwards in March

The Air Force Institute of Technology will offer SYS 208, "Life Cycle Risk Management," at Edwards March 7-9.

This funded class covers the basics of program risk and introduces a process to help effectively manage it throughout a program's life cycle within Air Force regulations and guidance. The course offers 21 Continuous Learning Points and is targeted for anyone involved in new acquisitions, sustainment of systems, or management of services.

During the three-day course, students will learn about the Air Forceā€Ÿs five-step risk management process. Each step is discussed in detail and tools and techniques associated with each are broadly covered. Numerous exercises are used to contribute to student learning.

Examples of topics covered include risk management planning, identifying risks and writing risk statements, subject-matter-expert "calibration", Monte Carlo simulation, risk mitigation and handling options and measuring and tracking risk management activities. The concept of opportunity management is also touched upon.
