The next training day will challenge Airmen from the 412th Test Wing to test their fortitude during the 412th TW Sports Day, May 2.

The event will be from 8 a.m. to noon and military members must attend the all-morning event in their physical training uniforms.

"The day has been designed to provide both teams and individuals the opportunity to demonstrate athletic excellence and sportsmanship," said Capt. Blair Byrem, Joint Strike Fighter Integrated Test Force.

Airmen will participate in a myriad of events, which include three Commander's Cup events where trophies will be handed out to winners. Those three are the 5K run, the Warrior Challenge (4-person teams; one team per group), and the truck pull (6-person teams; one per group).

Other activities will include soccer, basketball, kickball, ultimate Frisbee, and volleyball.

Paintball and skeet shooting will also be offered as pay-your-own-way events.

Although it's mandatory for military, the sports day is not only meant for Airmen to show how they're fit to fight, it's also meant to be fun. That is evidenced by the pie-in-the-face contest, where 25 cents will buy a vote to put a pie in the face of a fellow Airman.

"We will close the day's events with food provided by Colonel Dawn Dunlop, 412th TW commander, in appreciation for the excellence demonstrated by the Air Force's premier test wing," said Captain Blair.

He said the bottom line of the event is to compete in one of the events with your fellow teammates and colleagues, but most importantly have fun.

Capt. Dan Itsara is the point of contact for the pie-in-the-face event.
