PG&E work will cause natural gas release today Published May 31, 2011 By 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Pacific Gas & Electric work on gas lines in the Tehachapi area will cause a safe, controlled release of natural gas beginning today at 2 p.m. and lasting for up to 24 hours. The work may create loud noises along the gas lines and result in an odor - similar to the smell of rotten eggs - for those downwind of the work. The Edwards Air Force Base Fire Chief advises that, other than the potential for odor, there should be no effect to Edwards. Contact PG&E at 1-800-743-5000 for more information.
