Summer's here and like years past, the 95th Force Support Squadron welcomes in the lazy days with a Summer Bash that's sure to have something for everyone.

Open and free to the entire Edwards community, the July 4th celebration will begin at 4:30 p.m. and is scheduled to run till 10 p.m.

"It's the 20th annual summer bash," said Sandra Davis, 95th FSS Community Services flight chief. "We have more carnival rides this year and the first appearance of the civil air patrol drill team."

Scheduled festivities at Roberts Field promise a fun-filled time for the entire family, Ms. Davis said, featuring a giant inflated Slip n' Slide, bouncy castles, a youth carnival ride for little ones and a teen carnival ride for young adults and the young at heart. There will also be a Euro Bungee, a dunk tank and free watermelon, all going strong till 8:30 p.m., she said.

The favorite children's attraction is the Euro Bungee, Ms. Davis said. "They are harnessed in and love to do somersaults and back flips."

At Wings Field, just across from Roberts Field, there will be food and beverage booths, a beer garden, live entertainment and an information and first aid booth. These events will run from 4:30 to 9:15 p.m.

Live entertainment will take place on stage at Wings Field featuring the band Gooding, La Halau O Kananinapua Hula Dance troupe and local band Smackwater Jack. The live performances are scheduled to run through 9:15 p.m.

Activities are scheduled to culminate around 9:15 p.m. with a presentation of colors and the National Anthem by the Civil Air Patrol Drill Team.

Following the National Anthem, a colorful display of fireworks is scheduled to begin at 9:30 and expected to run till 10 p.m.

The event is also an opportunity for those who are new to meet others in the community, as new 95th Air Base Wing vice commander, Col. Amy Arwood said when asked about her plans for celebrating the Fourth of July.

"I'm new here and excited to be a part of Team Edwards. I plan on attending the Summer Bash on the 4th to meet the community of Edwards and celebrate Independence Day."

Ms. Davis urges everyone to attend, "There's fun to be had by all!"
