Organizational Consulting Office offers targeted tools to improve individuals, organizations Published Aug. 24, 2011 By Darrel Burns Air Force Flight Test Center Organizational Consulting Office EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The AFFTC's Organizational Consulting Office has shifted its operations to provide more targeted services to better meet the workforce development needs of the Edwards community, office staff members say. Over the past two years, the OCO has become trained and certified to provide cutting-edge services regarding organizational, workforce, and leadership development. To address the current rapid changes in the workforce environment, the OCO provides organizational development services such as team building activities, resiliency training, employee engagement, change management support and facilitation of group activities, office staff members say. Through their certified coaches, the OCO addresses individual development by providing leadership development workshops as well as executive, supervisory, and employee performance coaching. All coaching services are confidential. At the center of these services is the OCO's ability to provide what staff members say are the most valid and sophisticated developmental assessment tools available, including the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory, the StrengthsFinder, the California Personality Inventory (CPI)-260 and the Leadership Practice Inventory (LPI)-360 evaluation assessment. These tools address the specific developmental needs of an organization or individual employee. By employing these assessment tools, the OCO can bring science and technology to organizational and individual development. The significance of using such assessment tools allows the OCO staff to drill down into personality type, traits, and strengths to target specific areas for development. Unlike attending management training and hoping those management skills will develop, the OCO can provide a blended service to include training, assessment tools, and ongoing coaching for long-term sustainable change, staff members say. The services of the OCO are available to all federal service employees and military members. Participation in all OCO services is voluntary. Those interested in learning more or who have any questions regarding the services of the OCO should contact either Darrel Burns at 275-9128 or Greg McCutcheon at 275-9006.
