Tech. Sgt. Matthew Reyes is Warrior of the Week Published Oct. 19, 2011 By Meredith Mingledorff 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Warrior of the Week Tech. Sergeant Matthew Reyes NCOIC, Information Protection Operations - 95th Communications Squadron Hometown: Loomis, California When did you join the Air Force? January 2000 Why did you join? I wanted to do something different with my life. The Air Force offered me chance to learn new skills, advance my education, and serve my country. I joined for the opportunities, and I've stayed because I can't imagine doing anything else. What do you like most about your job? I love what I do. I get to harness my inner nerd to safeguard cyberspace and deploy around the world to very interesting places. Where else are you going to get to practice computer forensics in a combat zone? What's your favorite thing to do around the area? I love to travel in my off time, nothing beats relaxing on a tropical island. When I stay home, I go mountain biking with my wife or play golf with some friends. Warrior Highlights: "TSgt Reyes oversees the detection, identification, and elimination malicious network vulnerabilities or activities. He is a proven leader and mentor to other members of the unit. He recently returned from a deployment to Afghanistan where he led a network team that was directly responsible for transitioning a NATO FOB to an Air Base."
