Calif. -- The Edwards weather station is forecasting winter weather conditions consisting of rain and snow mixed-showers, and snow and snow-showers into evening hours of Monday, Dec. 12 and continuing into Tuesday, Dec. 13. For the Edwards area, precipitation will start as rain and will become mixed rain and snow starting at around 10 p.m., with possible snow accumulations on the Antelope Valley floor. Snow accumulations will be heaviest in the foothills (2-4 inches) and mountains (2-4 feet). Snow levels will be in the 3,000 foot range on both Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will be right around 50 degrees Fahrenheit during the day on both Monday and Tuesday and around 30-32 degrees Fahrenheit in the evening hours. Please consult with your local safety representative on what actions to take in order to prepare for winter weather. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility and use caution while driving. California law states if you need to use windshield wipers when driving, you need to have your headlights on. If there is snow accumulation on your vehicle, it is best to remove all of it off of your vehicle before driving. Proper tire inflation is essential for optimum traction and vehicle control. Increase the spacing between vehicles and reduce speed to allow for wet and slippery conditions. Wet and ice or snow covered roadways reduce traction and increase stopping distance. Allow more time to reach your destination. For highway information please go to http://www.dot.ca.gov/.
