Professional Maintenance Certificate Program will hold roadshow Jan. 18 Published Jan. 10, 2012 By By Nathan Dixon 412th Maintenance Group EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 412th Maintenance Group's Training Division will host a roadshow to introduce a new maintenance certification program on Jan. 18 at the Conference Center in the Galaxy Room from 10 to 11 a.m. The roadshhow will introduce attendees to the new Air Force Materiel Command certification program that was developed during the past 15 months. In October of 2010 an Integrated Process Team composed of members from AFMC's A4 Workforce Development staff, along with members from each of the air logistics centers and the Air Force Flight Test Center Maintenance Training Offices were chartered to develop a professional certification program that would create a well-trained, educated, certified workforce for the future. The IPT's efforts established the Professional Maintenance Certification Program, identified by the acronym PMxCP. The IPT launched a pilot program during July and August of 2011. More than 50 employees applied to participate in the pilot certification program from across the ALCs and AFFTC. Approximately 28 of the 50 applicants were from the 412th MXG. The IPT received positive feedback and suggestions from the pilot course and many suggestions were incorporated into the program. The intent of the certification program is to develop a pool of "Maintenance Enterprise Logisticians" who have the potential to become the Air Force's future leaders, IPT members say. Although the certification program is voluntary, PMxCP is a great resource for the maintenance workforce to gain professional occupational certification similar to other notable organizations and offers recognition to those who graduate. Anyone interested in the program is encouraged to attend the roadshow. While the current program is designed to target General Schedule and Acquisition Demonstration employees, a follow-on effort is being considered to provide a similar type program for Federal Wage System employees. A registration link has been established at https://afkm.wpafb.af.mil/AFMCPMxCP on the left side of the page. Registration is not a mandatory requirement to attend, but it will help to ensure there is sufficient seating available. Please contact your 412 MXG Unit Training Manager or the 412 MXG's Training Division by e-mail at 412mxg.mxt.workflow@edwards.af.mil for further information. The roadshow will feature opening remarks by Col. Robert F. Weaver, 412th MXG commander, remarks from Sandra Wimberly, the program IPT lead, an overview of the program, and a question-and-answer period. Additionally, 17 Team Edwards maintainers who completed the course during the pilot program will receive their certificates.
