New four-way stop to be added at intersection of Lilly and N. Rosamond Blvd. Published Jan. 18, 2012 By Brian Sponsler 95th Civil Engineer Division EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Entering and exiting the NASA Dryden facilities will soon be easier following the installation of a four-way stop at the intersection of Lilly & North Rosamond Boulevard. While the installation will make entering and exiting the NASA complex safer and more convenient, it will require increased awareness and caution from all drivers, especially those who are traveling through on north- and south-bound Rosamond Boulevard. To make adherence to the new stop requirement easier, speed limits on Rosamond Blvd. will be established at 45 mph from the intersection of Rosamond and North Muroc, near Base Supply, north to the intersection of Rosamond and Lilly. Speed-registering warning signs will remind motorists of the new requirements. Attention will be drawn to the "stop" and "stop ahead" signs by LED button style lights which will flash around the perimeter of each sign. "NASA employees are looking forward to the installation of these stop signs," said Dryden's Chief of Facilities Engineering and Asset Management Dan Crowley. "We've had a nasty accident there and many near-misses. It is particularly difficult to identify on-coming traffic which is often caught in the glare of the afternoon sun." Motorists are advised to use particular caution around this intersection while all become accustomed to the new traffic rules. Implementation is scheduled for early February.
