Name:
Heather D. Kuhn

Rank: Tech. Sgt. (Master Sgt. - Select)

Duty Title: NCOIC, F-35 Aircraft Section

Unit: 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron

Hometown: Rochester, Minn.

When did you join the Air Force? May 2001

Why did you join the Air Force? I was awarded a full scholarship for my junior and senior years at Wisconsin Madison University, and decided to serve my country and travel the world instead. It just felt right at the time.

What do you like most about your job? I love to travel and meet other people. Networking happens on a daily basis and I still call people up from years ago to check in. I recently transitioned into a position where I supervise 18 members and couldn't have asked for a better group to work with, and for. I enjoy taking care of my people and making sure they have what they need to be successful, all while keeping their minds on the mission.

What is your favorite thing to do around the area? My husband, son and I are avid campers and newcomers to the sand dune lifestyle. Other than that, we enjoy barbecuing, hanging out with friends, going to sporting events, running, and just exploring the area. There is always something new to do if you don't mind a couple hours in the car.

Warrior Highlights: "Tech. Sgt. Kuhn has been involved in generating and distributing over 10 initial Operating Instructions for the start up of Air Combat Command's first-ever F-35 Unit. With that, she has been pivotal in coordinating training for 18 maintainers by integrating them within the host unit (461st Flight Test Squadron), as well as maintenance formal training at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Furthermore, Tech. Sgt. Kuhn is an active student who has successfully completed an undergraduate course and started two others. She is currently five classes from her bachelor of arts in Environmental Management with a 4.0 GPA. Lastly, her drive has motivated her employees in starting and completing their off-duty education as well."
