New BX GM takes the reins at Edwards Published April 10, 2012 By Army & Air Force Exchange Service Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Edwards AFB's newest resident, Mike Wiles, is ready to make an impact on quality of life here as the Exchange's new General Manager. "I'm extremely excited to be at Edwards AFB," said Wiles. "Taking care of Airmen and their families is my number one priority. I will strive to ensure their needs are met every time they step foot in the Exchange." Wiles comes to Edwards AFB from Lackland AFB, where he was Area Food Business Specialist for the past 3 years. He has 21 years of experience with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service and has served at several locations including Hickam AFB, Okinawa, and Eglin AFB. "Much like our customers, I have always been on the move throughout my career," said Wiles. "I am anxious to put best practices learned from previous locations to use here at the Edwards AFB Exchange to provide a great shopping experience." Making the Edwards AFB Exchange the customer's first choice helps the entire community as part of the Exchange's dual mission is to generate earnings which provide a dividend to support Air Force Serviced. In 2010, Airmen exercising their benefit by dining and shopping on base generated a dividend of 467,634.43. "These funds are critical to Air Force Services ability to enhance local programs and facilities," said Wiles. "As a result, the dollars that Airmen and their families use to shop the Exchange generates a healthy return by directly improving quality of life efforts."
