Name: Janice Laurenti

Rank: CIV

Duty Title: Contract Specialist

Hometown: Pawtucket, R.I.

When did you begin working at Edwards? August 2010

What do you do for Edwards/Air Force? My primary working mission each day is to support the buying efforts of the Directorate of Contracting. Specifically, I buy and administer contracts in direct support of the 95th Mission Support Group and the 95th Medical Group. I also serve as a member of the contracting recreation club, planning and supporting organization events to further enhance the morale of the contracting community.

What do you like most about your job? I really do enjoy the challenges that can arise when working on an acquisition. There are many things to consider as a contract specialist and no two acquisitions are ever the same. You have to be aware of all the moving parts of the acquisition at all times to be able to keep your acquisition on track.

What is your favorite thing to do around the area? I have a special needs daughter and we participate in the Antelope Valley Special Olympics Charter. I am also a wartime quilter with the Quilts of Valor Foundation. I make quilts for our own wounded warriors here at Edwards.

Warrior Highlights: "Ms. Laurenti is a contract specialist for the AFFTC Directorate of Contracting, the Mission Support Group and Medical buying branch. Among her many achievements, she researched and founded the Edwards Chapter of Quilts of Valor. This chapter is comprised of a group of volunteers that make homemade quilts for wounded warriors. At the time, Janice was the sole volunteer, assisted by donations from the contracting community; she quilted the first article for an Edwards AFB wounded service member. The quilt was presented to a wounded warrior in a small ceremony in April 2012. Ms. Laurenti continues to support local quilters by pursuing her passion to help others."
