Sgt. Maj. Dillree ends 30-year military career Published June 18, 2012 By 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Sgt. Maj. Charles L. Dillree (center), receives the Meritorious Service Medal from Lt. Col. Darrell Platz, Marine Aircraft Group 41 Detachment A commander, during a retirement ceremony in Hangar 1210 June 12. One of the main faces of the Marine entiity here for the past few years, Dillree reported to Edwards Air Force Base June 26, 2008, for duty with Inspector-Instructor, MAG-46 Detachment B. On May 16, 2009, MAG-46 Detachment B was re-designated MAG-41 Detachment A. Dillree enlisted in the Marine Corps on June 12, 1982, and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif., on September 26 for training. Upon graduation he reported to Fort Sill, Okla., for Field Artillery Fire Direction School. After completion of FDC training Sergeant Major Dillree reported to the 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif., for duty with Echo Battery, 2d Battalion, 11th Marines. He was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal in June 1983 and Corporal in January 1984. Dillree's career has taken him all over the world including, Hawaii, Okinawa, the Middle East and Washington D.C. Sergeant Major Dillree's personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold stars in lieu of fourth award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Combat Action Ribbon, also numerous campaign and service awards.
