412th MXG Announces Professional Maintenance Certification Program expansion to FWS employees Published Sept. 11, 2012 By Nathan Dixon 412th Maintenance Training Division chief EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 412th Maintenance Group, in conjunction with Air Force Materiel Command Headquarters/A4D, recently implemented the Professional Maintenance Certificate Program (PMxCP) for AcqDemo and GS personnel. PMxCP serves to create a trained, educated and certified maintenance workforce of the future. The AFMC Integrated Process Team has developed a certification program that will aid in providing a pool of skilled, flexible Maintenance professionals with an enterprise logistics perspective as they progress in their careers. Although the program is voluntary at this time, PMxCP can be a great resource for the maintenance workforce to gain the recognition they deserve, provides professionals within the maintenance community an occupational certification on par with other DOD career programs and provides a developmental roadmap from new hire through senior leader with the support of Council 214. On Sept. 5, the 412th MXG's Training Division teamed with American Federation of Government Employee's Local 1406 President Jim Allen to sign a joint memorandum announcing expansion of the PMxCP to include Federal Wage System employees. Prior to full implementation for FWS, the IPT will test the application process through a prototype or pilot program here at Edwards AFB. The PMxCP FWS Prototype will run from Oct. 1 to 26 with a 412th MXG suspense of Oct. 19 to ensure time to finalize packages and provide results to AFMC by the Oct. 26 deadline. The FWS Prototype is available to all 412th MXG FWS employees (personnel who currently or previously filled a position on the unit manning document). FWS Prototype participants must meet the primary eligibility requirements identified in the PMxCP framework which will be provided to those personnel who express an interest in participating in the prototype/pilot to their PMxCP Office of Primary Responsibility (see below list). The FWS Prototype/Pilot application process consists of completing all program requirements for the certification, populating all required PMxCP application templates, and submitting a completed application package for review by the closing date of the FWS Prototype's open cycle (no later than Oct. 19). All PMxCP information, including program specifics and application details, is centrally located on the Professional Maintenance Certificate Program Community of Practice website, afkm.wpafb.af.mil/AFMCPMxCP. In advance of the FWS Prototype, the OPRs will conduct two training sessions to provide information on the prototype process, timing, and responsibilities, as well as general PMxCP information. The first sessions are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 14 and the second set Sept. 20. The sessions will take place at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day in Class Room 315 located in Bldg. 1600. Personnel who would like to participate in this program should contact their PMxCP OPR immediately to ensure they receive a personal invite to the session. Should you find you are unable to attend the session, but really want to take part, please let your PMxCP OPR know. Your OPRs will release further communications regarding the application process via e-mail directly to the participants. Please direct all program and application questions to the appropriate local OPR (you may courtesy copy the 412th MXG/MXT Workflow (412mxg.mxt.workflow@edwards.af.mil) as well in the event your Unit PMxCP OPR is unavailable: 412th MXG Staff/412th MXI: Ms. Marie Becerra (Marie.Becerra@edwards.af.mil) 412th AMXS: Mr. Lenard Harmon (Lenard.Harmon@edwards.af.mil) 412th MXS: Mr. Robert Haugen (Robert.Haugen@edwards.af.mil) 412th MXLS: Ms. Michele Chebahtah (Michele.Chebahtah@edwards.af.mil) 912th AMXS; Mr. David Ross (David.Ross@edwards.af.mil) Local OPRs are seeking participants from each of 412th MXG's assigned FWS series.
