Jenna Perkins 412th Test Wing Judge Advocate Office EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Tax time is here again and the Edwards AFB VITA Tax Center will be open for business starting Feb. 4. The Tax Center offers free tax preparation and services for active duty service members, retirees, eligible dependents, and reservists on active duty orders. The Tax Center is staffed by volunteers who are certified to prepare returns by both the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board. The Tax Center is located at 1100 Kincheloe Ave. The center will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Appointments can be made starting Jan. 29. Please call (661) 275-ETAX to schedule an appointment between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Thursday and between 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays. When you make an appointment, you will be told what information and forms to bring. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30, dorm residents who will be filing a 1040EZ, may come to walk-in hours at the Legal Office, located in Building 1. If you come to walk-in hours, please make sure to bring: (1) last year's tax return, (2) completed page 1 & 2 of the Intake/ Interview Form (available at the Tax Center and Legal Office), (3) Military ID, (4) W-2 and any other tax forms you may have received, and (5) a blank check with your routing and account number if you want your refund directly deposited.
