Branch Elementary to hold pre-registration for Kindergarten Published April 8, 2013 By Jane Rideout Branch Elementary EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Irving L. Branch Elementary will be having pre-registration for Kindergarten on May 1 and May 2, from 12:45 p.m. -to 3 p.m., for the 2013 -2014 school year. Civilian employees as well as active duty are eligible to enroll students at base schools. Children must be five years old on or before Oct. 1, 2013. State law requires a transitional kindergarten year be offered to students who do not meet the minimum age requirement for kindergarten. If your child turns five between Oct. 2 and Dec. 2, 2013 he/she will be eligible for transitional kindergarten for the 2013/14 school year. Muroc JUSD offers a two year kindergarten program in which transitional kindergarten is the first of the two year program providing education for eligible children who do not yet meet the minimum age requirement for kindergarten. Transitional kindergarten will be taught within a traditional kindergarten classroom with a modified kindergarten curriculum being taught.
