EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 412th Test Wing hosted a Military Retiree Appreciation Day to honor and celebrate the men and women who have dedicated portions of their lives to serve our country at Club Muroc on Edwards Air Force Base, California, Sept. 7.
Team Edwards was honored to host the event and invited all retired military veterans in the surrounding community with base access to attend. The base community gathered to show their gratitude and respect.
“Edwards has not hosted one since 2019. This is the first one in a long time,” said 1st Lt. J. Broedy Harris, 412th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Maintenance Officer-in-Charge, and event organizer. “The meaning behind the event is to show our local retiree community that the base is here for them, and the vision of the event is to connect service members from the past to the current force.”
A Retiree Appreciation Day vendor fair also took place with various informational booths, along with guest speakers from the Antelope Valley Veteran center, door prizes, a live performance by the AV Showcase Choir and a special gift presentation for retired Tech. Sgt. Gary Niswonger.
“This event also holds a vendor fair that provides multiple services and opportunities to our retirees that they may or may not know they have,” Harris said. “We have the 412th Medical Group aiding with pharmacy, dental, blood pressure screening and other health aspects, we will have the 412th Test Wing Office of the Staff Judge Advocate also in attendance providing assistance with power of attorney and wills free of charge.”
