At approximately 08:30 a.m., Edwards security forces initiated a base lockdown at both Edwards AFB and Operating Location Plant 42 in Palmdale, California. The lockdown ended at approximately 10:10 a.m. There were no injuries, and the base has resumed normal operations.

This morning an individual employed on base was reported to brandish a firearm during a verbal altercation. The individual did not discharge the firearm and returned to their vehicle. Security Forces on base worked swiftly to execute standard safety procedures. It was later determined that the suspect individual fled base property. The individual returned to Edwards AFB and surrendered to Security Forces shortly after 2 p.m.

An investigation is ongoing in collaboration with local law enforcement.

The welfare of our workforce and their families is always a top priority, and unit commanders and chaplain support teams are working closely with affected individuals.
