Veteran's Day marks a time of reflection on those who have, who are and who will answer their nation's highest calling. It is an opportunity to show our appreciation for their heroic efforts.

General Douglas MacArthur said, "The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war." The burden on our veterans and their families can be immense, and we owe our highest gratitude for their service.

Closer to home, Team Edwards has 70 personnel serving in theater now, and over the past year we have seen 227 more answer the call of duty. We are all extremely proud of each and every one of these Airmen serving our nation with strength, honor and courage. I want to also take this opportunity to especially thank the families for their support of our Airmen, their mission and our country.

However, you may celebrate Veteran's Day, please pause to remember and honor the sacrifices of those heroes that have come before us and the extraordinary contributions of your fellow expeditionary Airmen. It is a small, distinguished group of Americans that can claim the title "Veteran" and this Nov. 11 is our day to recognize these heroes.
