To the men, women, and families of the 412th Test Wing, I want to take this opportunity to tell you how proud I am of the great work you are doing here at Edwards Air Force Base. Every day we provide more combat capability to the nation, giving the edge to our Airmen, Aoldiers, Sailors and Marines so that they may return home safely. Every Edwards team member is vital to this mission. I want you to enjoy a well-deserved break from your efforts this Labor Day weekend - but, I also want you to return safely.

Every year the Air Force brings extra attention to ground safety during the 101 Critical Days of Summer. So far, two Edwards AFB personnel have been injured during this period. Unfortunately, across the Air Force we have experienced 13 fatalities, most of them off duty. We don't need another one.

Please stay vigilant and be proactive to prevent accidents. When enjoying recreational activities - especially those involving watercraft or all-terrain vehicles - apply the same discipline regarding proper training, equipment, and procedures that you use while at work. Drive alertly and defensively - particularly if on a motorcycle. Monitor yourself, your friends, and your families for complacency, fatigue, distraction, or intentional risky behavior. Please speak up and be a good wingman to help those around you.

A culture of safety takes a team effort. Thanks for all you do on a daily basis to demonstrate that Team Edwards spirit. Have a great weekend.
