Team Edwards celebrates AF birthday Published Sept. 30, 2013 By Rebecca Amber EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Members of the Edwards community gathered at the Air Force Flight Test Museum Sept. 27 to celebrate the 66th Air Force Birthday. "If you think about what our tradition has been since 1947, it has been to overcome adversity and make it happen and that's what we're celebrating today," said Brig. Gen. Michael Brewer. Following the Air Force song by the Edwards Singers, the oldest Airmen, James Judkins, 412th Civil Engineering Division director, and youngest Airmen, Airman First Class Alexis Tripodi, 412th Force Support Squadron, cut the birthday cake. 2nd Lt. Jake Downey, Edwards Company Grade Officers Council president, coordinated the event. "They celebrate [the Air Force birthday] all over the world, even in deployed locations so we try to keep the tradition here," said Downey. "It's important to remember [our] history and remember those who came before us and honor our predecessors."
