For the fourth week in a row Desert High School was the target of a break-in, this time causing major damage to the school's maintenance facility.

Vandals took tools within the building and used them to bash walls, bathroom facilities, computers, fluorescent lights, appliances, computers and a school vehicle's back window.

In the previous weeks, items were stolen from the football field snack shacks and the band room snack bar. On the weekend of May 2, two trash cans were set on fire.

Base residents who have any information regarding these crimes are urged to call the Kern County Sheriff's Department at 661-824-7130.

Residents can also call the high school's established WeTip hotline at 1-800-782-7463 (1-800-78-CRIME). You may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. WeTip is completely anonymous and no names will be revealed.

Last year, vandalism to Edwards AFB schools cost the school district $12,000.
