Base theater offers free 'Iron Man' screening Published April 23, 2008 EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Reel Time Theater here will be among the first movie houses in the nation to show "Iron Man" in a free screening April 30 at 7 p.m. "Iron Man," which stars Robert Downey Jr, Terrence Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow, filmed several scenes at Edwards in April 2007. Some of those scenes were featured in the film's first trailer released in September. Based on the Marvel comic book, "Iron Man" features Mr. Downey as Tony Stark, an industrialist forced by terrorists to create a weapon of mass destruction. However, instead of creating the weapon, he creates a powerful suit of armor to fight crime as Iron Man. Operated by the Army Air Force Exchange Service, the base theater gained permission from the film's distributor to offer the free screening in advance of the movie's release two days later. Tickets for the screening are available at all AAFES facilities base-wide, however seats are limited to a first come, first served basis. Doors to the theater will open two hours prior to the screening. For more information, call 275-SHOW.
