To promote esprit de corps among Team Edwards, the Middle-Tier Association is hosting a Combat Dining Out at Wings Field Aug. 8 at 6 p.m.

A combat dining out is a formal military function that brings together units from across the base in an attempt to build camaraderie and social networking. It's open to both military and non-military personnel.

"We want everyone to come and bring their family," said Staff Sgt. Kodi Jackson, 95th Security Forces Squadron executive command staff member.

Although the format is designed similarly to that of a traditional dining in, dining out has a less formal ambiance. Military members attending should wear Airman Battle Uniforms, Battle Dress Uniforms or flight suits and civilians attending are encouraged to dress casually.

"The event will be fun for everyone" said Tech Sgt. Rondale Alexander, Air Force Flight Test Center noncommissioned officer in charge of information management. "There will be activities for everyone to participate in."

Without giving away any of the nights surprises, some of the events will include an obstacle course, a water gun competition and a water balloon fight.

For dinner, hamburgers and bratworst will be served with sides of baked beans and potato salad.

"An event like this is a good opportunity to enhance basewide networking," Sergeant Jackson said. "You don't want to let the opportunity for fun pass you by. The ticket prices are low, and I guarantee everyone who comes will have a good time."

Tickets are $5 for E-1 through E-4, $10 for E-5 through E-9 and $15 for officers and civilians. They will be sold until July 30.

For more information or to purchase tickets, call a unit representative:

Planning for an event like this requires fundraising and site preparation; therefore, the MTA is currently looking for volunteers.

"We will take as many volunteers as possible," said Tech. Sgt. Karl Morsey, Air Force Research Laboratory fabrication branch NCOIC. "We appreciate any amount of time people are able to volunteer."

Volunteers are needed to set up the event Aug. 6 through 8. On Aug.8 and 9, volunteers will help in the post event cleanup and disassembly, then they will return borrowed items on Aug.11.

For more information about volunteering, call Sergeant Morsey at 525-5304.
