Air Force Flight Test Center announces 'best of the best'

The Air Force Flight Test Center recently announced the installation's annual award winners.

The following are annual award winners:

-- Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Anthony Kasch, 412th Maintenance Squadron Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory journeyman. Among his accomplishments during the year, Airman Kasch calibrated approximately 250 items, which enabled 5,900 sorties and 8,400 flying hours. He earned John L. Levitow award after attending Airman Leadership School.

-- Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Daniel Halverstadt, 412th Operations Group evaluator loadmaster. Among his accomplishments during the year, Sergeant Halverstadt received the Air Force Materiel Command Gen. "Dutch" Huyser Outstanding Aircrew award. He attended Southern Illinois University, where he earned 21 credit hours.

-- Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. Julia Blair, 95th Security Forces Squadron Operations and Training superintendent. Among her accomplishments during the year, Sergeant Blair managed rapid response in area of responsibility, she neutralized 213 incidents, 17 medical emergencies and detected 23 unexploded ordnances.

-- Company Grade Officer of the Year: Capt. Jeffrey Scott, 95th Aerospace Medicine Squadron Health and Human Performance Flight commander. Among his accomplishments during the year, Captain Scott delivered physiological training to 14 military and nine NASA Dryden Flight Research Center flights. He published his collision-warning research in Human Factors Journal.

-- First Sergeant of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Eric Light, 412th Operations Group first sergeant. Among his accomplishments during the year, Sergeant Light led 359 military and more than 1,000 Department of Defense civilians in 131 Air Force Specialty Codes. He was the president of the First Sergeants Council as well as Top 3, he also executed 114 Air Force Flight Test Center-wide events.

-- Honor Guard of the Year: Staff Sgt. Terreil Reed, 412th Logistics Test Squadron avionics sensors craftsman. Among his accomplishments during the year, Sergeant Reed oversaw two base honor guard units with 36 members, performed 48 funerals and 13 color guard details. He trained 79 additional honor guard members on a 12-hour notice in support of nine Air Force Materiel Command-directed funeral services.

-- Airman Reservist of the Year: Staff Sgt. Sherry Peoples, 412th Operations Support Squadron airfield management supervisor. Among her accomplishments during the year, Sergeant Peoples supported as many as eight runway crossings per day for munitions and weapons delivery to main base. She also conducted more than 60 airfield checks, including foreign object debris sweeps, and lighting and barrier checks.

-- Noncommissioned Officer Reservist of the Year: Staff Sgt. Joshua Lemburg, 95th Security Forces Squadron flight sergeant. Among his accomplishments during the year, Sergeant Lemburg received a 98 percent on Flight Sergeant Quality Control evaluation. He mentored and trained several patrolmen, which enhanced traffic enforcement skills. He also received his Criminal Justice Administration degree from University of Phoenix.

-- Secretarial and Clerical Civilian of the Year: Lisa Camplin, 95th Security Forces Squadron commander secretary. Among her accomplishments during the year, Mrs. Camplin is the 95th SFS's strategic communication representative ensuring recognition of unit member and Air Force issues. She developed a mentoring program for deployed security forces spouses unit.

-- Staff, Specialist and Analyst Civilian of the Year: Gerald Lamb, 412th Maintenance Group management analyst. Among his accomplishments during the year, Mr. Lamb developed 412th MXG's scalable manpower matrix and managed High Performing Organization implementation, which exceeded first year performance goals by 10 percent. He directed 37 council member in fellowship, charity, educational, outreach and fundraising programs.

-- Technician Civilian of the Year: Lyn King, 95th Medical Support Squadron health benefits advisor and assistance coordinator. Among her accomplishments during the year, Ms. King conducted Desert Warrior weekly in-processing briefing. She launched a new Occupational Hearing Conservation Program with civilian provider benefitting 88 aviators.

-- Trades and Labor Civilian of the Year: Jeremy Kidd, 95th Force Support Squadron laborer. Among his accomplishments during the year, Mr. Kidd provided lodging to more than 40,000 guests that generated $1.5 million in revenue. He completed three courses in the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute course-line program.

-- Scientific and Engineering Civilian of the Year: Robert Warner, Air Force Flight Test Center test system safety engineer. Among his accomplishments during the year, Mr. Warner was awarded the 2008 Air Force Materiel Command Patricia Terrill System Safety award. He also mitigated weapon flyback dangers of initial F-22 Raptor supersonic Small Diameter Bomb.

-- Supervision and Management Civilian of the Year: Joyce Burke, Air Force Flight Test Center Contracting Directorate Contract Management Division chief. Among her accomplishments during the year, Ms. Burke oversaw more than 1,400 contractor employees and activities. She also attended Aircraft Ground Safety Course and Government Flight Representative Course.

-- Team of the Year: 95th Security Forces Squadron Installation Security Section team. The team provided full spectrum security for the second largest Air Force base. In addition, the team also supported the Global War on Terror with 97 Airmen deployed, 39 joint expeditionary tasking and 16,800 man-days. The security section team was also the first to convert to Department of the Air Force security.

The winners were selected from units within the 95th Air Base Wing, the 412th Test Wing and AFFTC.
