AFFTC announces annual award winners Published March 17, 2010 95th Air Base Wing Public Affairs EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Air Force Flight Test Center recently announced the installation's annual award winners. The following are the annual award winners: -- Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Matthew J. Mosko, 412th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Egress Systems specialist, briefed the Joint Strike Fighter program to 13 distinguished visitors. Airman Mosko also completed 93 tasks critical to the F-35 JSF egress system with zero errors. -- Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Brian Freeland, 412th Maintenance Group Loading Standardization crew member, oversaw eight live-load operations during Exercise Red Flag 2009. Sergeant Freeland also authored the local X-51A loading checklist. -- Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year: Master Sgt. Daniel Halverstadt, 412th Operations Group standards and evaluations superintendent, was the catalyst behind the development of the first ever Air Force Career Enlisted Aviator. Sergeant Halverstadt also provided a detailed storage plan for $20 million of equipment. -- First Sergeant of the Year: As the 95th Security Forces Squadron first sergeant, Master Sgt. Bobby Herron processed 18 Articles 15, 10 discharges, 164 Enlisted Performance Reports and coordinated two Commander's Call. He was also recognized as the Air Force Association 2009 senior noncommissioned officer of the year. -- Company Grade Officer of the Year: Capt. Valentine Maldonado III, 412th Operations Support Squadron Airfield Operations Flight commander, maintains three airfields and 18 lakebed runways. Captain Maldonado also managed in $3.5 million runway repairs. -- Secretarial and Clerical Civilian of the Year: Todd D. Amon, 95th Aerospace Medicine Squadron Health and Wellness Center information manager was recognized for his outstanding clerical support role that included developing an H1N1 national epidemiological model for Public Health Epidemiology Office and was instrumental in getting approval for $30 million in upgrades to the base gym over the next 2 to 3 years. -- Staff, Specialist and Analyst Civilian of the Year: Dennis J. Collins, 452nd Flight Test Squadron Global Hawk deputy for logistics, is the senior staff member who has guided the careers of 18 technicians. Mr. Collins authored a 300-page test plan which he completed two months early and was also the "Answer Man" when it came to 452nd FLTS logistics and Global Hawk testing. -- Technician Civilian of the Year: Charles E. Tyson, 412th Maintenance Squadron Munitions Plans and Programs monitor, worked on several weapons tests for a variety of aircraft which increased both the lethality of weapons while maintaining the highest safety standards. -- Scientific and Engineering Civilian of the Year: Louis Vasquez, 412th Maintenance Squadron training leader Munitions Inspection, received an excellent for conducting 956 inspections on 2,500 line items worth $74 million. He was a 412th TW 2009 Air Force Association Outstanding Civilian of the Year nominee. -- Trades and Labor Civilian of the Year: Reynaldo F. Enriquez, Air Force Flight Test Center Test System Safety engineer, was recognized as the best at the AFFTC Civilian Scientist/Engineer for the first quarter of 2009. Mr. Enriquez chaired 14 safety review boards and enacted robust safety measures spanning all AFFTC test disciplines. -- Supervision and Management Civilian of the Year: Margarita L. Hoffman, 95th Comptroller Squadron Financial Management chief Financial Analysis Operation, received the Supervisory/Management category award for her professional accomplishments in financial and program management and community volunteer service. -- Honor Guard of the Year: Staff Sgt. Charles N. Sibus, Ceremonial Guardsman, received the 2009 Edwards Air Force Base Honor Guard Member of the Year category award for his professional accomplishments in leadership, operation, and management. -- Enlisted Individual Mobilization Augmentee of the Year: Master Sgt. Daren C. Wilson, Jet Engine Propulsion master instructor, 412th Logistics Test Squadron, Air Force Materiel Command, Det. 12, was recognized for his professional accomplishments in leadership, instruction, and innovative programs for the Joint Service Community. -- Officer Individual Mobilization Augmentee of the Year: Lieutenant Col. Walter L. Jablow, Individual Mobilized Augmentee to the Chief of Flight Safety, Air Force Flight Test Center, Air Force Materiel Command, was recognized for his professional accomplishments in leadership and community volunteer service. -- Team of the Year: The B-52 Test Team, 419th Flight Test Squadron, Air Force Materiel Command, planned, executed and reported on 13 B-52 flight test projects worth more than $26 million. They flew all programs using only two B-52 aircraft. The team de-conflicted assets between multiple test and research organizations. They were responsible for the 30-thousand pound Massive Ordnance Penetrator Bomb, Combat Network Communications Technology upgrade, the X-51 hypersonic vehicle, and software upgrades.
