Edwards dancers dazzle at Disneyland Published April 19, 2010 By Kenji Thuloweit 95 Air Base Wing Public Affairs ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Edwards Dance Factory, sponsored by Youth Center, took 10 girls to Disneyland's Diamond Dance Classic April 10. They joined a group of 300 dancers from all over the nation and around the world including four groups from Australia. During the weekend they performed their routine during a parade on Disneyland's Main Street, USA, in front of the usual large crowd of visitors who lined both sides of the street. The dancers continued their routine from the park's entrance through Main Street, USA, past Tomorrow Land and ending at the "It's a Small World" attraction. On Sunday they participated in a stage show on the Hollywood Backlot at California Adventure where they performed a completely different routine. All 300 dancers performed a variety of showcases in several categories, which included individual and group performances. The Diamond Dance Classic provides a large venue for dancers to show off their routines and features different levels of dancers from beginner to expert. The group was introduced as representing Edwards Air Force Base and most of the girls have parents who work on base. Edwards Youth Center offers dance classes for girls and boys ages 3 and up. Classes are held almost every day at various times. People interested in registering their son or daughter can drop by the Youth Center. For more information on dance classes, call 661-275-5437.
