SYS 120 is an excellent opportunity for junior- to mid-level professionals needing to increase understanding of the acquisition process and to raise awareness and understanding of ways to improve interaction with critical support agencies. The course offers 16 continuous learning points to second lieutenant through major, staff sergeant through chief master sergeant and GS-7 through GS-13 in diverse disciplines to include acquisition, program management, finance, engineering, technical, logistical and contracting services. The two-day course will explore the current Acquisition Management System and how communication and teaming can reduce risk, improve system acquisition and enhance sustainment by educating students on the capabilities of the Defense Contract Management Agency, Defense Contract Audit Agency and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service. Guest lecturers will provide insight into roles, organizations, responsibilities and support capabilities of agencies providing critical support in the total life cycle management in the context of system Pre-Award, Post-Award and Contract Close-out processes. SYS 120 will enable students to engage experts in identifying key support concepts to manage a dynamic environment where changes in technology, regulations, and business processes confront Air Force workers. Each expert seeks to teach concepts to tame runaway costs, control schedules and ensure critical performance of new and existing systems. The course capstone project allows the students to apply solutions to real-world problems impacting Air Force acquisition and sustainment.
